Karlovy vary & Maranske lazne

Carlsbad is the largest and the most famous Czech resort, located in the most picturesque canyon on the banks of the river Tepla. It has held the status of the top resort for over 600 years. The main treasure of Carlsbad is its mineral springs, which have no equal in the entire world. The Carlsbad waters are successfully used to treat digestive organs, metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal illnesses, stress, periodontal disease and many others.

The city was founded in XIV century by Emperor Charles IV. Privileges were given to the city after he hurt himself while hunting for deer, as a result of which he fell into the warm, salty creek and the water took away the pain and healed the wound.

Carlsbad was the destination for all the European and Russian aristocracy to treat digestive organs and the musculoskeletal system. The Czech nation liqueur “Becherovka” originates from this city.

Marianske Lazne is second most popular resort and is located 40 kilometers away from Carlsbad. Marienbad used to be one of the most fashionable resorts in the Australian-Hungarian Empire. The local cold springs attracted all European establishments. There are over a 100 springs in the city and suburbs, containing carbon dioxide, mineral salts and iron.
